Hot in the Press Kettle October 2010

JK Rowling, the wildly popular author of the Harry Potter is facing a plagiarism lawsuit regarding one of her books/

The lawsuit alleges that Rowling’s book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire copied substantial parts of Jacobs’ 1987 book, The Adventures of Willy the Wizard — No. 1 Livid Land. Jacobs’ estate also claims that many other ideas and plot aspects from the 16-page volume were copied into the Harry Potter books. Jacobs died in London in 1997.

Rowling insists this is rubbish, as she said on Oprah recently, the idea for the series popped into her head while travelling on a train in London.  Ideas are energy, it is in the air and anyone can pick up the signals. Two people can have similar ideas especially if they grown up in the same culture. Well, the judge refuses to throw up the case and feels it should be heard. I don’t suppose it will dent her wallet should she have to throw away a couple of millions on this accuser.  So let’s wait and see.

Oprah may be one of the most powerful people in America but she does not impress Randy Jackson who still holds a grudge against her for appearing to believe that his brother Michael was a pedophile. Randy said that he heard his mother allowed Oprah to interview Michael’s children and he is totally against that because Michael would not have wanted Oprah near to them.

He vented in a series of posts on Twitter on Wednesday. He said: “I know how Oprah feels about my brother and family.” He noted that when the jury was deliberating Michael Jackson’s fate on child molestation charges in 2005, Winfrey did a show on pedophilia. Randy Jackson said it wasn’t a coincidence

Why do some of the celebrities get married? Is it just for the show? To boost their newsworthiness or what.  Why don’t they just get married quietly and divorce quietly instead of polluting society with their fickleness.  I believe some of these celebrities see marriage as another act to perform and stage, no substance at all.

Act II in most celebs divorce is the line “We are committed to our children, we’ll stand by them..”. yah, right

The divorce is due to irreconcilable differences meaning “we’re tired of each other, next..!”

Bed bugs have scaled the fences and landed in high places – no less than the New York City’s pre-eminent performing arts center – David H. Koch Theater, the home of the New York City Ballet and the New York City Opera. Oh dear oh dear, that is absolutely terrible. Imagine bugs caught up in the dancers tutus, what jumbled steps could result!

Paula Abdul is back in the Driver’s Seat

CBS announces judges panel for Paula Abdul dance competition reality show “Live to Dance”. She is joined by some heavy weights in the business including host Andrew Ginsberg, choreographer Travis Payne  and singer/dancer Kimberly Wyatt.  All have excellent credentials to be part of the show.  Nice to see Paula landing on her feet.  This is right up her alley and I wish her well.
