Michelle Obama is a strong woman

Of course our racist media will want to squish Ms Obama into the stereotype of the angry black woman. Ms Obama from what I have seen so far is a woman of measured qualities and temperament. She has every right to be angry at the manner in which the American press treat her husband, the President and the unfair criticism of him and the delving into his background to ensure he is American all because of his black pigmentation. I would be mad, wouldn’t you?

As this article below indicates, Ms Obama is President Obama’s biggest supporter and confidante. They are equals in every respect. They are both highly qualified, astute academics and definitely people with strong views which they can articulate quite eloquently.

Who ever it is that want to start a rumour, don’t go dreaming up issues where there are none

Searching for Sarah

Fergie and Oprah

Sarah Ferguson has had the extremes in life. She has had a childhood that sounded like horror – a father who called her a Sheep’s Ass all the time and her mother’s head decapitated in a car accident while she was still in her tender years. Like Cinderella she grew up and married a real live prince and then she went and threw it all away.  “I had it all and I blew it,” she told Oprah and the world on the Oprah Winfrey Show. She acknowledged what a great guy is Prince Andrew. She said he truly cares for her. Even though they are divorced, he still allows her to live in his house.

Oprah has befriended this fallen Prince and is helping to put her together again in the six-part docu-drama of Sara’s life entitled “Finding Fergie.” When I watched the interview Fergie had with Oprah my heart cried for her like it would for a sister or a dear friend. She seemed to be so much in pain as she spoke.  However, it is never too late and you’re never too far gone to reclaim yourself and I am happy to see Fergie took the high road and let it all out there. No one can hold anything over her head. She has spoke about her life openly and made herself vulnerable and I think she will be fine. Good luck to you Fergie. Hope it all works out and you get back on your own too feet.

Searching for Sarah.

 Glee Club Comes to Toronto
The wildly successful Glee Club  with one member from Vancouver Canada arrived in Toronto to a sold out show. It reminds me of Canada’s popstars featuring five girls who made the trek across Canada to screaming teenyboppers.
Toronto is rocking with the India Film Awards which has chosen the city to hosts its annual celebration. Toronto boasts some 700,000 residents of Indian background so they are all hyped up and the show has already be sold out to 23000 avid fans. Royal Watch

It’s hot on the radar screen. Every day there’s an update. Kate has resorted to smoking again  something her husband to be hates – who likes to kiss a stinky mouth that tastes like an ashtray? I think Kate should definitely kick that habit and set a good example for the young people in her domain. Kate has definitely won the hearts of the English tribe and I wish her well on this journey.

The American Idol show has seen its day and I think it does not grab the imagination as before.  While the talents are great people are not tuning in or voting enough. It’s for a new gig.  Pia one of the strongest singers was voted out early in the game. Some alternative press has dubbed the show racist and sexist.  I think that is a bit of a stretch anyway.  I don’t find it to be so and hate it when people are quick to use these negative cards injudiciously.  The show is less interesting and the novelty has worn off except for those who are trying to get their big break – good for them and am happy for them but for the ordinary jane and joe – the juice has watered down.

The President’s sister Maya Soetoro-Ng has written a book  – Ladder to the Moon

This is big in the news. I hate it when people talk about the President’s half sister.  What’s half about that. The woman is his sister – they came out of the same womb. You can be sure about your mother not about who’s your father.  I think it’s an insult to be referred to as half. It’s the President’s baby sister who is the closest thing to him outside of his nuclear family.

Ladder to the Moon

Ms. Soetoro-Ng said she had long wanted to write a children’s book. She uses writing, she said, as a way to “untie some basic knots in my own thinking” — a task that felt more urgent after her daughter Suhaila was born in 2004. Becoming a parent, she said, forced her to confront the “intense grief” that came with knowing her mother and her daughter would never meet.

She fixes that in “Ladder to the Moon,” a whimsical tale in which Suhaila travels to the moon to be scooped up in the arms of her wise “Grandma Annie,” who teaches her about suffering in the world. Its title comes from a Georgia O’Keeffe painting of the same name; when Ms. Soetoro-Ng was 9, she said, her mother gave her a postcard of the work.

Caught in the Act

Is this really stealing or just a case where someone’s so in love with a pen that they decided to put it away for future use. It’s hard to imagine that a president would steal a pen but it’s funny.  There’s something sneaky about the manner in which he slid the pen under the table and hands emerged empty

Dead Bachelor

The body of a contestant on the Bachelorette 2009 reality TV show was found along a scenic Southern California highway two days after his family lost contact with him when his cellphone died, a family spokeswoman said Thursday.

Julien Hug’s body was found Wednesday, said Audrey Doherty, a family publicist. Authorities wouldn’t say whether they suspect foul play.

Hug had been on his way to help manage his family’s newest restaurant, Augusta Modern, in Palm Desertwhen his cellphone died, Doherty said. No one had heard from him since.

Catherine Zeta Jones Mental Illness

It’s great to see celebrities coming out and talking about mental illness. Hopefully  they will raise awareness about mental illness and treat it like any other kind of illness rather than stigmatize people who are mentally ill.

“After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder,” Zeta-Jones’ rep says in a statement to Lifeline Live.

Mike and Catherine

According to WebMD.com:

Bipolar II disorder is similar to bipolar I disorder, with moods cycling between high and low over time. However, in bipolar II disorder, the “up” moods never reach full-on mania. The less-intense elevated moods in bipolar II disorder are called hypomanic episodes, or hypomania. …

Most people with bipolar II disorder also suffer from episodes of depression. This is where the term “manic depression” comes from. In between episodes of hypomania and depression, many people with bipolar II disorder live normal lives.

Demi Lovato is also  candid about her nervous breakdown and an advocate for teens who are feeling the pressure to be perfect.

Demi Lovato, contributing editor of Seventeen Magazine is  also more candid about her personal struggles with the pressure to be perfect.

“I basically had a nervous breakdown,” says Demi, who wants to let teens know they aren’t alone in facing pressure. “I was really bad off. My parents and my manager pulled me aside and said, ‘You need to get some help.’ It was an intervention. I wanted freedom from the inner demons. I wanted to start my life over.”

NY Mourns the senseless death of children

What happened to Lashandra who took her life and the lives of her children? What went wrong?

“She was a very good mom … She always was with her kids.”

Armstrong seemed stressed when she picked up the children Tuesday at the Young and Unique Christian Development Child Care, said Shaniesha Strange, supervisor in the infant room.

“It just seemed like she was having a bad day,” Strange said. “I could see that something was kind of bothering her, but she didn’t talk about it. She wasn’t one to talk about her business. The only thing she’d say was that she was so alone. She’s a single parent; she takes great care of her kids, goes to school and works. She really needed a helping hand.

Research shows that 200 women a year kill their own children in the USA.  That’s a lot of women and a hell of a lot of children dying
