Mark Myrie aka Buju Banton
Buju Banton, 37-year-old Jamaican born reggae star was found guilty in a federal court of law in Florida.
Banton was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and using the wires to facilitate a drug trafficking offense. He was acquitted of attempted possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.
Banton recently won a Grammy for his new album titled: Before the Dawn.
Fans in the US and in Jamaica are shocked by the verdict. Banton could serve up to 15 years behind bars for this offence. What a shame that would be for such a talented man who made a terrible mistake.
