African immigrants are known for their voracious appetite for higher education. They make the continent proud. Congratulations
There is headline news of the candidate who won an election in Texas by pretending to be black. Appearing white or black does not mean you are genetically black or white. It’s all superficial. I am sure if a genetic testing were to be carried out on the candidate one would find that he has Saharan African blood in him and I am not sure if the one-drop blood test is still operating in the USA. You know, where it is said if you have one drop of black blood in you, you are considered to be black by the state.
It’s true what Wilson said that he is not the only one who lies, he basically said that all politicians lie when they want to win an election – by any means necessary. Interesting read however – check out the link
Singer Lester Chambers is recovering after being attacked by a fan at a California music festival, where he dedicated a song to Trayvon Martin.
On July 13 at the Hayward Russell City Blues Festival, in the East Bay area near Oakland—hours before a jury returned a not-guilty verdict for George Zimmerman—Chambers, a founding member of The Chambers Brothers, dedicated Curtis Mayfield’s “People Get Ready” to Martin. Police say 43-year-old Dinalynn Andrews-Potter then climbed on stage and attacked Chambers, shoving him into an amplifier and knocking him down.
“Started calling me MFs and SBs with different slurs and screaming at me, ‘You started this! You started this, you MF!’ and she hit me,” the 73-year-old Chambers recounted recently. “I have a great big lump over here on my left rib cage, under my shoulder.”
Andrews-Potter, who is white, was initially given just a citation for misdemeanor battery
The Meck Deck, an official blog of the Art Pope-funded conservative John Locke Foundation, this week published racially-charged and homophobic imagery of President Obama in a piece this on the president’s opposition to North Carolina’s proposed anti-gay marriage amendment. The post, which claims Obama is merely pandering to gay voters, is accompanied by an image of Obama in apparent drag while sitting next to a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The Meck Deck’s slogan is “Comment and analysis on all things Charlotte.” The blog’s “About Us” link takes readers to site of The John Locke Foundation, and the blog appears under the Locke Foundation banner.
The piece itself, which shows a date stamp of Monday, March 19, 2012, is written by Tara Servatius*. Servatius, a former right-wing radio commentator for Charlotte’s WBT AM, is a regular contributor to the Meck Deck. (UPDATE: Servatius also runs the MeckDeck Twitter account, and authors a good share of their posts.)
The John Locke Foundation is one of the leading groups in Art Pope’s conservative network in North Carolina. According to IRS tax records, since 1994 Locke has received more than $24 million from Art Pope’s family foundation, making Pope by far the largest funder of the group, and making the Locke Foundation far and away the Pope Foundation’s biggest grantee. Pope also sits on the Locke Foundation board.
What kind of people are you who show no respect for your President? Those people who have little respect for themselves. The caricature is racist and offends African American people – it might not have been so bad without the Kentucky Fried Chicken – would you have put a white president with KFC, if not why? White people eat KFC as well. However there is a historically negative connotation with fried chickens and African Americans which makes this picture so disgusting. Just when you think things are getting better this happens and throws a wrench in the dream of an equitable life in the USA. We have so-called intelligent people having to resort to the banality of stereotypes to make a point. How sad and ignorant. What are children learning from these people? Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere and everyone deserves to enjoy their basic human rights and if you have a problem with freedom you are free to migrate to China or Iraq or Iran. Maybe you will be happy there. Let freedom reign in America.

What a champion. Americans of all race and colour should celebrate this wonderful woman.
From left, Queen Elizabeth, Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and former media mogul Conrad Black greet Second World War veterans during a ceremony unveiling the Canada Memorial in London on June 3, 1994.
A Canadian war memorial in central London associated with former media baron Conrad Black has fallen into disrepair, serving as little more than a children’s play area.
Inaugurated by the Queen 13 years ago, the granite monument in the centre of the British capital honours the million Canadians who fought and the 110,000 who died alongside Britons in the two world wars.
Canada Memorial, designed by Montreal sculptor Pierre Granche, now sits in Green Park with its plaques smudged and dirty, and children running over its inclined surface. Water used to cascade over bronze maple leaves inset in the red Canadian Shield granite, making it look like leaves floating down a stream, but it was turned off sometime in the spring.
“It’s an impressive thing to see when the water’s running and there aren’t children running all over it,” said Matt Bingley of Barrie, Ont., who has visited the site.
The memorial has been neglected since the Montreal-born Black’s luck began fading. U.S. prosecutors alleged that the former head of the Hollinger newspaper empire and three others had improperly siphoned off millions of dollars from the company. Black was convicted in July of obstruction of justice and three counts of fraud.
Black’s connections to the memorial include serving as co-chair of a five-member design selection committee and using his clout to ensure that the inauguration in 1994 was attended by the Royal Family, Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and British Prime Minister John Major.
Black had also created a fund to maintain the memorial. That money has since dried up — and so has the water.
“The water’s off and you can see all these kids treating it like a playground. As a Canadian, I wouldn’t say it’s insulting, but it’s definitely a sign of disrespect,” Bingley told CBC News.
Bingley said he wonders whether anyone even knows that it’s a monument to Canadian soldiers.
