Cassava is one of the staple crops and/or food for many people living in African countries and it is being threatened by a virus that is sweeping across East Africa. 

One farmer dug up her cassava and found that inside its tan skin, the white flesh was riddled with necrotic brown lumps, as obviously diseased as any tuberculosis lung or cancerous breast. “Even the pigs refuse this,”  the woman said.

 If this virus is not stopped people could be starving in Africa.  African scientists should take note and see what they could do to help this situation before it gets worse.  Read the article below
