Listening to the CBC radio this morning, I was surprised to hear one of Vince Li’s psychiatrists lobbying and making a strong case for Li to be granted day passes to walk around the Town of Selkirk and perhaps in Winnipeg later because according to this doctor’s view, Li poses no harm to the public and regrets that he beheaded Tim McLean on the Grey Hound Bus a couple of years ago. The doc said that Vince plans to apologize to McLean’s family at some time. The doctor compared his calm state to that of a Buddhist monk.
Of course there are those in the community who feel that Li should never be able to live within the community again, not after what he has done. He should spend the rest of his life in an institution. What do you think?
