The gruesome murder on the Greyhound bus from Edmonton, Alberta to Winnipeg Manitoba On Wednesday evening,July 30, 2008, sent shockwaves throughout the world. Everyone was doubtless eager to know the identity of the persons involved.
The killer is 40 year old Vince Weiguang Li and the victim 22 year old Tim McLean. The Killer lived at a downtown apartment in Edmonton, Alberta and the victim is 22 year old of Winnipeg Tim McLean Jr. He worked at two jobs in Calgary and one was with a travelling Midway Continent Carnival which travelled all over North America
“He was that guy who all the girls said he was their best friend. And it was true because he was such a sweetheart. You couldn’t think of him as anything but a friend. I can’t think of anyone that didn’t like him.” said a co-worker.
Vince worked at a McDonald’s restaurant and everyone there described him as a quiet, easy going person. He told his boss that he was going to Winnipeg chasing a job opportunity.
Li worked at an Edmonton McDonald’s restaurant. He also delivered the National Post, Edmonton Journal and Edmonton Sun for a distribution firm until he left his contract position in April, said his former employer Vincent Augert. Li returned to that job in July.
“I believe he was having some marital problems,” said Augert. When he met with Li to hire him back as a newspaper distributor, he said, “you could almost read between the lines” from the way Li was talking “that there was something not right there.”
Augert said Li called him three weeks ago, saying he had a job interview in Winnipeg. That was the last time Augert and Li spoke to each other, according to reports in CBC news.
Li has not spoken since his arrest and he has refused to hire a lawyer. The state may have to appoint a public defender for him.
I’ve been doing a ton of research since discovering the name of the victim, Tim McLean. I don’t believe for a moment this was a random killing. I believe it was planned. Hopefully this guy Vince Li talks and we’ll learn more; so far I don’t think he’s lawyered up.
It didn’t make sense… Li wore shades at night, carried a knife that could do serious damage, and a large pair of scissors. Yea… he’s nuts for sure – he ate McLean according to what the police said on their radio.
So I started digging… Li’s charges need to be increased IMO – this was premeditated. I believe he knew who McLean was and intentionally sought out to kill him.

It’s almost more disturbing to me that people didn’t try stopping him. Yeah, the guy has a rambo knife, but he’s ONE guy in a bus of ~37.. it sounds like the people just ran off the bus and left him to go at it.

Alexandra Storey, Tim McLean’s ex-girlfriend, reportedly stated Tim had sent her dozens of texts as the Greyhound he was riding made its way to Winnipeg from Edmonton. Alledgely Tim told Alexandra some of the passengers were taking ecstasy while on the bus ride, while watching the movie Zoro.
We also know Tim may have been a fan of 4 20, from viewing his myspace page.

50 to 60 times is what Caton, who was the first person to see what was happening, said. How can this be if you turn your head the first time you hear that blood-curdling scream? Caton ran but why? Mostly guys sit in the back of the bus, so wasn’t there anyone else that could of attacked the animal before any more damage was done.
The cannibal doesn’t deserve the mental facility, he deserves to be shipped back to China and let the Chinese torture his poor soul. FKU!!!!
My friend thought up the idea of some drug/money related motive, though it seemed random enough. However, the fact that Li was seated next to his coworker and then moved to sit next to his victim is pretty suspicious. But it does not sound like McLean was on ecstasy. What a bad trip, anyway. It will be interesting to see what they find out on Stacy. And as far as people being cowards, who knows what anyone else would have done, especially in a confined space on a moving bus. I think they did what they could and did a good job at that. I would have figured that the guy is as good as dead after seeing what was happening. It’s not like they had any warning or time to prepare to break up a fight or anything. I wish people would get off of their backs about that.
Vince Weiguang Li had a plastic bag containing his victim’s ear, nose and part of a mouth in his pocket when officers arrested him. The only response officers received from him was: “‘I have to stay on the bus forever”‘

I ran into a blogger a bit ago that researched and analyzed this whole thing. It was awsome. It wasn’t on wordpress though so not sure where I saw it. I’ll find it and bring it back – it’s a must read. Don’t know the guy/girl, but good stuff. I think the blog name started with the word ‘cat’.

Just like Alonzo said in Training Day, it takes a man to kill. Its not like stepping on ants! This guys was hardcore for what he did, but he also had the balls to do it. He is kinda like Alonzo, gangster! To shoot someone is different, stab them and decapitate them, that is unique and remarkable.
