And the children shall lead them

I watched a heart warming story about children’s activism, children’s empathy and children’s leadership in the world. Watching stories like these gives me hope for the future in spite of the pundits who predict doom and gloom. There is a new race of children in the world who do not define success in terms of money and greed but by how much they are contributing to make this world a better place and there are lots of rich kids out there.

That child is Craig  Kielburger. Craig  was moved  change the world when he was only 12 after he saw on TV that a young boy far away in Asia was killed for trying to speak out against the wrongs in that society.  He decided he would help. He got a group of like minded children in his school to form a “Free the Children” group.  He proceeded to tell his parents that he wants to go to India. At first they laughed and thought he was naive and after a few days he would forget about this seeming outlandish idea.  At the time they did not even let him take the bus by himself, let alone sending him off to India. But  was not to be dismayed he hooked up with a mentor who agreed to be his chaperon in India and  and the rest is history.

Anyone can log on to the website and see all the wonderful work this kid has done with the help of Oprah and others.  Today just 13 years after he has built  schools and have some  millions of children  saving children and enjoying it.

Tomorrow Craig and his brother Marc Co-founders of Free the Children are going to be on Oprah and you do not want to miss this inspiring show of children helping children without regard for race, religion, colour or the skin, hair, sex and so on. These children are working as one people and should be examples to adults to bury their heads in the sand and still continue to practice archaic prejudiced ways.  let the children teach you.

According to reports Oprah will be teaming up with Free the Children to help end poverty. Craig and Marc will announce their new O Ambassador initiative on the show.  The dream is to end child poverty and exploitation. How big can that be.  These guys with dreammaker Oprah Winfrey will make it happen.
