Quincy Jones Stand Up for Human Rights

Quincy Jones says he is a musician who cares about his world and he wants to see human rights adopted where gross violations occur. One of those countries he is speaking about against is China. Apparently Quincy is expected to play a major role in the Opening ceremonies in Beijing. Quincy says he is not advocating a boycott and that he will be attending the Olympics but that he must speak out against China’s human rights record and also China’s involvement in the Darfur crisis

“It’s not my intention to withdraw from the Olympics,” he was to say in his speech. “I care too much about Darfur and China and if I can stay in the game with others like us, I feel we can make a difference.”

China provides weapons of mass destruction to the Sudanese government which that government uses to suppress human rights of its people just as China is doing against its own Tibetans.

China as one of the fast and upcoming leading nation has to act more responsibly in the world because our eyes are now on it.  First it must take care of its own house before spreading the same poison elsewhere in the world.

China is becoming the new colonial in Africa.  China is filling Africa with cheap goods, lead filled goods while local business floundering.  Like their predecessor colonials, China reaps the benefit of Africa but contributes little to local industries. They live apart from the local people in their own little enclave.  Why Africa is allowing this kind of exploitation and segregation is beyond understanding.  If you want to live in Africa, then you must live amongst its people and get to know them.  The expatriates should not be the new lords and masters.
