Martin looks great with these two little Cambodian angels in his arms. He looks like a seasoned father.
The award winning Latino singer recently made a trip to Cambodia to speak out against trafficking in women and to support those suffering from HIV AIDS. Some of the women Martin met spoke of being sold into sex slavery by their own parents because of poverty.
“I’m not going to stop,” Martin said, pounding his fist on his knee as he sat on a tiled floor. “All of you are my heroes. You are a gift of my life.” He was speaking to those who have been trafficked and exploited.
Martin learned of Cambodia’s child trafficking problems in February during a three-day U.N. conference in Vienna.
In its annual human rights report released recently, the U.S. State Department called Cambodia “a source, destination and transit country for men, women, and children trafficked for sexual exploitation and labor.”
Martin promised to continue his fight and we can all hope that the voice of one as popular as him will be heard above the din of jangling coins of the business types.
